The Ideal Time to Visit Cambodia

Travellers often visit the ancient Khmer temple known as Preah Vihear, which is almost 530 meters above sea level. Since its location is on the border between Cambodia and Thailand, there has been many a dispute between the two nations to claim territory. The last one just happened in 2009 and has been the death of a number of soldiers. The temple itself has been constructed in the 11th and 12th century during the reign of the Khmer kings Suryavarman the 1st and Suryavarman the 2nd and was a monument dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

For those who love the glimmering white sands and the sound of waves crashing against the shore, you are in luck. The beautiful port city of Sihanoukville is for you. The city is also a beach resort and is on the Gulf of Thailand. One can even explore the many islands found near the gulf, most of which are underdeveloped and unexplored. A rather large gathering of crows too have taken refuge along the beaches and sometimes become a nuisance to their human counterparts.

The Silver Pagoda is another historic site that is a must see to any travellers wandering around Cambodia. This structure houses some amazing pieces of jewellery as well as exquisite statues and carvings, dating back centuries. One of the most significant pieces in this collection is the Emerald Buddha of Cambodia which dates all the way back to the 17th century. Another piece is the life-sized golden Buddha statue that has been studded with 9584 diamonds. The halls are filled with beautiful murals and paintings of all eras. It would be a fascinating visit for all the history and art buffs.

Wherever you decide to go, the country will not disappoint.
